To provide a space for artists to gain exposure and sell their creative works, to promote and support artists of all ages, from all walks of life, and to represent an eclectic mix of styles that will offer something for everyone, meeting the needs of local customers and tourists.Gallery RK was started by Russ & Jan Kruse, in November of 2014. Together they created a retail art gallery featuring the contemporary, Native American reproduction works of Russ, along with sterling silver & gemstone jewelry, and recycled jewelry made by various artists. As the gallery was opened, they began to connect with many talented artists, painters, sculptors, performers, etc. They started to appear from everywhere, and the gallery quickly filled its small space with an eclectic mix of artwork, and a selection of artwork on consignment.
Around mid-August, 2015, talks began with other artists to expand, form a group of artists/entrepreneurs and create a larger artist-owned gallery, The Gallery at Gruene Lake Village. The soft opening of The Gallery at Gruene Lake Village, on October 24th, begins the journey of something bigger and better, with many exciting, upcoming events to celebrate and share art with the community.
Gallery RK maintains a space within The Gallery at Gruene Lake Village where Jan enjoys working with the customers and representing different artists. Before opening the gallery, she spent five years traveling the Southwest, selling art with Russ, working in Native American galleries, and freelancing as a contract event coordinator. While living in San Antonio, Jan spent 29 years in the corporate marketing world and owned two small businesses. In her quiet time, Jan enjoys reading, organic gardening, hiking, and playing with her granddaughter.
